Pfizer Joins UP-CAMP During its 38th Anniversary

The UP College of Medical Professions (CAMP) recently celebrated its 38th Anniversary with different activities to highlight the special achievements of students, interns, faculty members and doctors in the Field of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology. The highlight of the event was the inauguration of the Toys, Books and Resource Library for special children. The library contains a variety of therapeutic toys and books for special children.

Pfizer Inc, donated toys and books for the use the patients and their caregivers. Pfizer has selected the Library as one of the beneficiaries of the Pfizer Philanthropy Program. This Program aims to uplift the quality of life of marginalized patients. It is a reflection of Pfizer's core value of Community, one of the eight core values (Community, Respect for People, Customer Focus, Innovation, Teamwork, Integrity, Leadership and Performance) that are the foundation of their business.

The new resource library is expected to benefit the patients of UP CAMP's Clinic for Special Children. The patients, mostly indigent children, are treated for free.

The clinic was built in 1992 with the primary mission of treating the less fortunate and differently abled children in the country. It also serves as the training ground for students of Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy who serve as caregivers of patients during therapeutic sessions.

It has a partnership with the Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines, as well as the Pediatric Department of the Philippine General Hospital (PGH).
