Youth and Hues 2002
Differently-abled and street children are this year's participants of Youth and Hues, a Pfizer youth art competition, the program that encourages underprivileged youth to engage themselves to different socio-civic activities like art competition.

Pfizer Philippines Foundation in partnership with Hands on Manila Foundation organized the art competition which was participated in by two groups. The first group was composed of fifteen differently-abled children from the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Pasig-People with Disabilities Program, while the other fifteen children were previously street kids, now being trained by the Unang Hakbang Foundation to be future artists.

This year's competition was held at the Pasig Catholic College beside the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception of Pasig. The program for the differently-abled was initiated by the parish, which is now a new diocese, and it encourages them to participate in the different activities of the community.

The board of judges consisted of respected artists, which include: Alma Quinto, President of the Philippine Art Educators Association and this year's Philippine representative to Cuba Arts Exhibit in Havana; Noel Rivera, consultant of Pasig City Museum, member of the Pasig Arts Club and Historical Research Club of Pasig, and Board member of the Kalipunan ng Sining at Kultura ng Pasig; Willy Marbella, curator at the De La Salle University Museum; Bambi Mayoralgo, art instructor of CICP-PWD; Nicole Marie Fandino, President of Kids Smile Foundation and Hands On Manila Foundation's Trustee and Asst. Treasurer; and our very own Corporate Affairs Director, Karen Villanueva.

The Honorable Vice Mayor Lorna Bernardo of Pasig also graced the event with her pledge of support to the different initiatives done by private sectors for the youth like Pfizer's Youth and Hues. Likewise, Msgr. Manny Gabriel, Rector of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of Pasig sincerely welcomed the participants, Pfizer colleagues, and other guests to Pasig as they recently celebrated the creation of the new diocese.

After the contest proper, the afternoon became alive when the ever energetic emcee, Clarizze Aliento asked the participants to dance with the infamous Spaghetti Song and Baby baby of F4. Then, through the assistance of the Tabulation Committee led by Lani Santiago, consolation and the twelve winners were announced by the board of judges. The winning artworks will be featured in Pfizer's 2003 Christmas cards and corporate planners.

The event was very unforgettable especially to the children of CICP and UHF, and of course, to our colleagues. Special thanks for the support of the Pfizer volunteers namely Clarizze Aliento, Vens Yap, Lani Santiago, Candice Nocom, Karen Villanueva, Kimmy Coseteng, Warlie San Diego, Lilibeth Corpuz, Apollo Serrano, Ritchel Dalid, Peng Cadiz, and Mike Alzona. |
