Part of the activities lined up to celebrate Pfizer's 50 th anniversary in the country is a community day that aims to promote understanding and encourage support for persons with disabilities. Pfizer, in partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and Philippine Sports Association for the Differently-Abled (Philspada) , will hold the event, called the “50lympics”, on July 1 at the Abellana Sports Complex in Cebu City .
This special Olympics will involve groups of Pfizer employees and differently-abled athletes who will be put together in teams to compete in games such as wheelchair basketball, athletics, swimming, and indigenous and fun games.
Through this activity, Pfizer hopes to raise awareness in society about these special individuals, their needs, potentials and capacity to contribute to the upliftment of the quality of life. Pfizer's 50lympics also seeks to encourage active participation and support among its employees in the company's efforts to reach out to and help different communities.
"It's a simple but meaningful way to celebrate our 50 years in the Philippines ”, said Pfizer Corporate Affairs Director Karen Villanueva. “By spending a day with differently-abled persons, we reaffirm our commitment to make a difference in the communities where we live and work”.
