Pfizer Helps Launch Search for PDA Chapter of the Year
Pfizer Philippines and The Philippine Diabetes Association, Inc. (PDA) recently signed a memorandum of agreement at Club Filipino in San Juan to launch the 2003 PDA Chapter of the Year Award. The nationwide search aims to recognize and honor PDA chapters that have implemented outstanding programs or projects in the area of diabetes care and prevention.
"There is an alarming rise in the prevalence of diabetes in the country and worldwide. Research for a cure is being carried out in various centers around the world but unless a cure is found, the need for diabetes prevention cannot be overemphasized," said PDA President Dr. Rosa Allyn G. Sy.
PDA is an organization consisting of healthcare professionals, committed to diabetes education, research, treatment and prevention in the Philippines. It has been in existence for four decades and has over 30 chapters, which have implemented projects that have benefited thousands of Filipino diabetics and their families.
Affirming its commitment to battle diabetes, Pfizer has teamed up with PDA through the sponsorship of the PDA Chapter of the Year Award. "As the world's leading pharmaceutical company, our responsibility goes beyond discovering and developing new medicines. It includes creating partnerships to help battle various diseases.
