Pfizer Strengthens Links With UERMMMC
Launches Medical Center's Website, Inks Virtual Library Partnership

Pfizer, Inc. continues with its drive against diseases and illnesses with the launch of the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center's (UERMMMC) website and the signing of a memorandum of agreement to establish a Pfizer - UERMMMC Virtual Library.

Pfizer President and Country Manager Rey Gerardo E. Bacarro said, "Pfizer reaffirms its commitment to serving the needs of the medical community, especially that of an important healthcare ally, UERMMMC. The most important tool against battling disease is information. These projects aim to use technology to provide ready and accessible information for medical practitioners and students as well facilitate communication in the medical community."

The UERMMMC website, which links the services of the hospital and the university, is one of the more than 30 medical organization websites that Pfizer has helped launch as part of it's Website Partnership Project. As with the other websites, part of Pfizer's agreement with UERMMMC entails sponsoring the development, hosting and maintenance of the website, in order to generate awareness on the establishment's specializations and provide a resource in its knowledge on primary to tertiary levels of service, training and research.

This disease and illness awareness campaign partnership program is viewed as a complementary action to the clinical work being done in more than 20 laboratories worldwide as part of Pfizer's over $ 5 billion investment on research and development. The goal is to find more cures as well as help alleviate the suffering of millions of people afflicted with various diseases.

Bacarro and UERMMMC President Dr. Romeo Divinagracia also recently signed a memorandum of agreement for the building of a Pfizer Virtual Library at UERMMMC, scheduled to be launched by yearend.

The virtual library, equipped with Online journals, computers, internet service, a conference room, audio-visual facilities and a mini-library, will help the medical community be abreast on the latest medical advancements and scientific developments globally.

The Pfizer Virtual Libraries are now in 7 locations, inclusive of the newly launched Cebu Institute of Medicine and Cebu Doctors Hospital Cyber cafes. The other locations are the Pfizer Head Office, the Philippine General Hospital-Pfizer Virtual Library, UST-Pfizer Virtual Library, Philippine Heart Center-MAS-Pfizer Information Center for Doctors and Patients and the DOH-Doctor-to-the-Barrios-Pfizer Training and Learning Center.

Pfizer is a global, research-based healthcare company that discovers, develops, manufactures and markets innovative medicines for humans and animals, and many of the best-know consumer products.
